PHYSIOTHERAPY

Our Philosophy

At Altitude Physiotherapy we evaluate, restore and maintain your maximum mobility and physical function. Treating a wide variety of conditions, ranging from sporting injuries through to rehabilitation from major orthopedic surgery, fractures or joint injuries. Other common complaints include neck or back pain and overuse injuries, which are also the areas of expertise of our physiotherapists.

On your first visit, a thorough assessment of your condition is conducted.  This allows the physiotherapist to determine the most efficient and appropriate treatment program for you.  This is tailored specifically to your goals and needs.

Age Related Conditions

We at Altitude Physio Center utilize a distinct knowledge base and set of tools for examining and treating the older population. We develop a rehabilitation program that integrates techniques consistent with the concepts of aging in mind, including:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Fracture
  • Back and neck pain
  • Stiff and painful joints
  • Muscle weakness
  • Decreases in flexibility

Lymphodema

Lymphoedema is swelling caused by a build-up of lymph fluid in the surface tissues of the body. This may happen as a result of damage to the lymphatic system because of injury, surgery or radiotherapy to the lymph nodes.

The aims of treatment for lymphoedema are to encourage lymph fluid to move away from the swollen area, to try and improve the physical symptoms and to stop them getting worse.

Lymphatic drainage is an important part of lymphedema treatment. It’s a form of massage that helps stimulate the lymphatic system and encourages the flow of lymph fluid. This encourages lymph to drain out of the affected area into an area that drains normally. Moreover, manual lymph drainage can induce a deep relaxation combined with a pain reducing effect.

Sports Injuries

Sports injuries are commonly caused by overuse, direct impact or the application of a force on a singular or repetitive instance that is greater than the body part can structurally withstand.

The biggest risk factor for soft tissue injury is previous injury which goes a long way to explaining why it is reported 50% of sports injuries are preventable.

Altitude Physio Center physiotehrapists are qualified to assess acute and chronic sports injuries both traumatic or overuse types and providing expert management advice and treatment for their immediate care, return to play and prevention of recurrence or subsequent injury with sports injuries physiotherapy.

Pre/ Post Surgical Rehabilitation

Often times, your physician will require physiotherapy prior to your surgery to assist in improving flexibility, decreasing pain and/or strengthening your affected areas in order to enhance the postoperative recovery.

Physiotherapy for surgical interventions includes, but is not limited to:

  • Joint replacement
  • Meniscus tears
  • Knee ligament(ACL) reconstruction
  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Surgical procedures for fractures
  • Herniated discs, spinal stenosis
